For Brixey & Meyer, a full-service US regional accounting firm, growth has always been part of its DNA. When their long-standing audit software was suddenly discontinued, the firm faced an unexpected turning point. The Brixey & Meyer audit team took advantage of the forced change to modernize their operations, strengthen audit quality, and prepare for the future.
The push to change
In December 2023, the firm learned that its audit alliance would no longer support the audit platform it had used for nearly a decade. They had until September 2024 to make a full transition. That short runway left no time for hesitation.
“It was a bit of a gut punch,” said John Garrity, CPA, CFE, a Partner in Brixey & Meyer’s Audit & Assurance Service. “We had been on that system for years and liked it, but we could see it was starting to age. Once the initial shock wore off, our team decided this was a good thing. It was our chance to get ahead of change in the industry and build for the long term.”
The firm quickly mobilized a small internal team of auditors, managers, and staff to research what was available in the market. They wanted a solution that would grow with the firm, integrate data seamlessly, and support a forward-looking audit methodology.
